Courses


New Zealand's pilot training is considered one of the best in the world. We offer the following courses:

Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
This is the first step to gaining your wings. A PPL holder can act as a Pilot in Command but cannot work for a salary/remuneration.
- + The duration is approximately 4 months to 6 months.
- + 6 theory exams.
- + 50 hours of flying.
- + A practical flight test and English language proficiency test.
- + You must be at least 18 years on the start date of the program.
- + Class 2 medical – 'FIT' for PPL or Class 1 medical 'FIT' for CPL of CAA NZ (Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand).
- + Highest educational certificate from their home country.
- + IELTS overall score of 5.5 or equivalent English test acceptable to Immigration NZ.
- + PPL will be usually taken together with CPL. The CPL fee is quoted below.

Pilot Training Academy
Recommended For International Students Who Are Interested To Learn Flying In New Zealand
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
This program is for students wanting to go to the next level after completing their PPL and looking to a career progression as a Commercial Pilot.
- + The average duration is approximately 12 months.
- + 6 theory exams.
- + 200 hours of total time (100 hours Solo or more and 100 hours dual time or less).
- + Cross country flight test and CPL flight test.
The fees package does not include the following expenses:
- + You must be at least 18 years on the start date of the program.
- + Class 1 medical – Class 1 medical 'FIT' for CPL of CAA NZ (Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand).
- + Highest educational certificate from their home country.
- + IELTS overall score of 5.5 or equivalent English test acceptable to Immigration NZ.
- + NZ$ 78,000 for PPL & CPL.
- + NZ$ 88,000 for PPL & CPL if you don't stay in school's accommodation.

Recommended For International Students Who Are Interested To Learn Flying In New Zealand And Return To Home Country For Licence Conversion

Commercial Pilot Licence With Multi Engine Instrutment Rating (CPL/MEIR)
This program is completed well within your CPL, unless a student opts for a country-specific program, wherein the New Zealand Instrument rating is not required.
- + Instrument Rating is when you operate/navigate the aircraft solely by looking at the instruments onboard the aircraft and radio signals from the ground.
- + This program is mandatory for students wanting a career as an airline pilot.
- + The instrument rating gained on a single engine aircraft is known as SEIR and instrument rating gained on a Multi-Engine aircraft (an aircraft with more than one engine) is known as MEIR.
- + The average duration of this program is 14 months.
- + 3 theory exams.
- + 20 hours simulator time.
- + 20 hours aircraft time and IR Flight Test.
- + You must be at least 18 years on the start date of the program.
- + Class 1 medical – Class 1 medical 'FIT' for CPL of CAA NZ (Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand).
- + Highest educational certificate from their home country.
- + IELTS overall score of 5.5 or equivalent English test acceptable to Immigration NZ
- + NZ$ 101,000 for CPL & MEIR.
- + NZ$ 111,000 for CPL & MEIR if you don't stay in school's accommodation.

Flight Instructor Course
This program is for students who would like to pass on their skills and knowledge they have gained to other student-pilots and have a passion for teaching.
- + The duration is approximately 4 to 6 months.
- + 25 hours dual flight training with B Cat.
- + 1 hour of spinning.
- + Instructional Technique Course.
- + Flight Test.
- + A valid Commercial Pilot Licence.
- + A total of 150 hours of Pilot-in-command time.

Phase 1
- + Fill out the application form and attach any relevant documents.
Phase 2
- + Register and sit for IELTS - please contact NextGen Aviation for more information.
Phase 3
- + If you are successful in the application stage, a letter of offer will be sent to you.
Phase 4
- + Apply for "Student Visa" with Immigration New Zealand before or after paying the course fees.
Phase 5
- + Get a Class 1 Aviation medical done on arrival in NZ or from any doctor in the following link https://www.caa.govt.nz/medical/medical-home.
